Heroes of the Storm: Mega Bundle

Heroes of the Storm had a special freebie going on that started on April 25, 2017.  It gave players enough gems to purchase a Mega Bundle with.  All players had to do was log in to Heroes of the Storm while the offer was still valid.

There were a total of four different Mega Bundles to choose from.  Each one contained 20 Heroes.  Players could only purchase one Mega Bundle – no matter how many gems they had.  After thinking it over, I picked the Mega Bundle that had the most Diablo III Heroes in it.

Heroes of the Storm: Heroes 2.0

It’s been a while since I’ve played Heroes of the Storm.  In the meantime, the game has been updated, changes have been made, and it’s now being referred to by Blizzard as “Heroes 2.0”.  What influenced me to log back into Heroes of the Storm was a freebie that was too good to pass up.  (I’ll put details about that freebie in my next Heroes of the Storm blog.)

Heroes of the Storm had been updated in between when I last played and now.  I’d been meaning to get in the game and see what was new, but kept forgetting.  Fortunately, I saw something on Twitter that reminded me to log into the game while the freebie was still available.  Unexpectedly, there was plenty of free stuff waiting for me that had nothing to do with the limited-time freebie.

One thing I’ve learned about Blizzard is ...

Heroes of the Storm: Winter Veil 2016

Heroes of the Storm had a Winter Veil 2016 event that began on December 14, 2015, and ended on January 4, 2017.  I didn’t get around to playing it until a few days before the end.  The last time I played Heroes of the Storm (HotS) was over a year ago.  I’m giving the game another try, so maybe I should start paying attention to the in-game events a little more closely than I had been.

The thing that made me interested in playing HotS was the Festive Treasure Goblin Mount.  The screenshots you see in this blog were taken on January 3 and January 4 of 2017.

Heroes of the Storm: Leveling Up

Heroes of the Storm is a fun game that I’m hoping to play more of in 2016. I have a tendency to play a few matches, and then go back to Diablo III. By the time I return to Heroes of the Storm, I’ve forgotten which buttons do what. If I played more frequently, this wouldn’t happen.

One of the problems I’m having with blogging about Heroes of the Storm is that I don’t seem to have a whole lot to say about the game. I haven’t played enough to offer new insights about specific Heroes, and I always play with an A.I. team (and against an A.I. team). This keeps things simple – but doesn’t give me a lot to write about.

I’ve decided to start posting blogs that show my progress as I’m leveling up my Heroes (and my Player Level).

There is another issue that is making it difficult for me t...

Heroes of the Storm: Infernal Shrines

Heroes of the Storm has two Diablo III themed Battlegrounds. They are the Battlefield of Eternity and the Infernal Shrines.

Both of them will continue to be part of Heroes of the Storm (even though the Eternal Conflict Treasure Goblin quests have been removed). Blizzard did a great job of capturing the art style of Diablo III. The screenshots in this blog were taken on September 5, 2015 (before the removal of the Treasure Goblins quests).

Heroes of the Storm: Battlefield of Eternity

A new battleground was added to Heroes of the Storm in early July of 2015. It was called Battlefield of Eternity. This battleground is based on the Eternal Conflict battle that has waged between the Angels and Demons in Diablo III.

Anything that adds more Diablo III into Heroes of the Storm is ok by me! I spent most of my time in the Technical Alpha, and the beta, playing Heroes that came from Diablo III. If I played Diablo, I chased Tyrael. If I played Tyrael, I chased Diablo.

The Battlefield of Eternity has a strong resemblance to the settings in Diablo III. I had time to get into Heroes of the Storm to check out this new battleground shortly after it was released so I could take some screenshots. The screenshots you see in this blog were taken on July 4, 2015.

Heroes of the Storm: Cardback Mount

Every so often, Blizzard Entertainment makes some special in-game rewards that are intended to entice players to try more than one Blizzard game. Such is the case for the Cardback Mount in Heroes of the Storm.

The only way to earn this special mount is to play Hearthstone. The mount looks like a card back from the Hearthstone game.  If you already play Hearthstone, and have been playing it for a while, there is a good chance that you have already done what you need to earn the Cardback Mount.

Heroes of the Storm: Kaijo Diablo Skin

On June 4, 2015, a little surprise was waiting for me on Twitter. I got a direct message from the verified Heroes of the Storm Twitter account. The message said that I had won “a Diablo + Kaijo Diablo skin bundle”. There was a code in the direct message that would unlock this gift. The code worked and I had the opportunity to find out what Diablo looks like with the Kaijo Diablo skin.

I am not entirely certain how I was selected to win this particular prize. I suspect it had something to do with participating in some of the online portions of the Heroes of the Storm Launch (but that is just a guess). What I am certain of is that I had a great time playing Diablo in Heroes of the Storm, and that the Kaijo Diablo skin kind of makes him look like Godzilla.

The last ti...

Heroes of the Storm: Open Beta – To Player Level 12!

I’m never quite sure what to believe when gaming websites post information about things that have been datamined.  On the one hand, it could be information that is entirely correct (but hasn’t been officially posted yet by Blizzard).  On the other hand… it could be misinformation.

To be clear, I don’t think that the websites that post datamined stuff are intentionally posting misinformation.  Instead, I mean there is potential for stuff to change before it goes “live”.  In general, there is no harm in believing that the datamined information is accurate – so long as you don’t consider it to be a promise of things to come.

Blizzard Watch posted that people who play Heroes of the Storm, and who reach level 12, can earn a special card back for Hearthstone.

The official Hearthstone website (on Battle.net) shows information for patch 2.6.0.8834. It includes a card back called “Heroes of the Storm”. “Acquired during the Heroes of the Storm cross promotion event“.

In this blog, I have screenshots that show how I got to Player Level 12. These screenshots are from May 21, May 22, May 23, May 26, and May 29, 2015.

When I first heard about the Hearthstone / Heroes of the Storm cross pr...

Heroes of the Storm: Open Beta – Daily Quests

The Heroes of the Storm (HOTS) Open Beta has started. Players who didn’t get into the Technical Alpha, or the Beta, can now download the game and start playing.  I spent a few hours running around in HOTS today, and it looks to me like the game is ready to go.  That being said, it won’t officially launch for a few more weeks.

Its been a while since I spent some time playing HOTS.  This time, I decided to see if I could manage to complete all three of my Daily Quests. Doing so took longer than I expected and I ended up running out of time.  The screenshots you see in this blog were taken on May 20, 2015.
