Heroes of the Storm: Mega Bundle

Heroes of the Storm had a special freebie going on that started on April 25, 2017.  It gave players enough gems to purchase a Mega Bundle with.  All players had to do was log in to Heroes of the Storm while the offer was still valid.

There were a total of four different Mega Bundles to choose from.  Each one contained 20 Heroes.  Players could only purchase one Mega Bundle – no matter how many gems they had.  After thinking it over, I picked the Mega Bundle that had the most Diablo III Heroes in it.

Flight Rising: Enduring Goblin

Flight Rising is a browser-based game where players control a Lair full of dragons.  There are several different things you can do with your dragons, including dressing them up and giving them Familiars (which are sort of like a pet for your dragon).

The Enduring Goblin was the holiday Familiar for the 2016 Riot of Rot, which took place starting on October 23, 2016, through October 29, 2016.  The Riot of Rot celebrates the Plague Flight.

Kitchen Scramble App: Pittsburger (Part 2)

Kitchen Scramble is a time-management app game where you make food and serve it to customers.  It was originally created by Playdom, and has since been purchased by RockYou (who made it into an app).

Pittsburger is the first town in Kitchen Scramble.  It starts with a tutorial that teaches you how to play the game.  By the time you get to the second half of Pittsburger, the tutorial is mostly finished.

Gardens of Time: Chapter One

Gardens of Time was originally created by Playdom.  RockYou purchased it and made it into an app.  I’ve been playing it on my iPad.  The app is a bit crashy, but the content of the game is mostly the same as it was before.

Chapter One of Gardens of Time starts with a tutorial that walks players through part of Chapter One.  The tutorial is mostly over by the time players hit Level 2.  Here is what the rest of Chapter One was like.

Heroes of the Storm: Heroes 2.0

It’s been a while since I’ve played Heroes of the Storm.  In the meantime, the game has been updated, changes have been made, and it’s now being referred to by Blizzard as “Heroes 2.0”.  What influenced me to log back into Heroes of the Storm was a freebie that was too good to pass up.  (I’ll put details about that freebie in my next Heroes of the Storm blog.)

Heroes of the Storm had been updated in between when I last played and now.  I’d been meaning to get in the game and see what was new, but kept forgetting.  Fortunately, I saw something on Twitter that reminded me to log into the game while the freebie was still available.  Unexpectedly, there was plenty of free stuff waiting for me that had nothing to do with the limited-time freebie.

One thing I’ve learned about Blizzard is ...

Flight Rising: Enchanting Goblin

Flight Rising is a fun, browser-based game, where players control a Lair full of dragons.  Every month, there is a festival that honors a specific dragon flight.  The 2016 Starfall Celebration took place starting on September 25, 2016, and ending on October 1, 2016.  It honors the Arcane Flight.

There are special Familiars that can be obtained while a festival is happening.  A Familiar is like a pet for your dragons.  Players can click on them once a day to earn Treasure – and occasionally a chest.  The Enchanting Goblin was the special Familiar of the 2016 Starfall Celebration.

Kitchen Scramble App: Pittsburger (Part 1)

Kitchen Scramble is a game that was originally created by Playdom.  Long story short, Playdom decided on April 20, 2014, to make Kitchen Scramble unavailable on their website.  I hadn’t gotten too far through the game, so this was disappointing.

Sometime after that, RockYou bought Kitchen Scramble.  You can download the Kitchen Scramble app for free.  The RockYou version greatly limits the amount of assistance that players can give to one another (in comparison to how easy that was when the game was on the Playdom website.)

I decided to give Kitchen Scramble another try, with the same goal as before: to get 3 stars in every level.

Gardens of Time: Tutorial

Gardens of Time was originally created by Playdom.  They sold it to RockYou shortly after Playdom removed Gardens of Time from the Playdom website.  I did not immediately seek out the app because I had no device to play it on.

Since then, my husband gave me his old iPad Mini.  The best part of the RockYou version of Gardens of Time is that it is almost exactly the same game that Playdom originally released.  The beautiful artwork, and interesting storyline, are the same.

The bad part is that the app is extremely crashy.  Every time it crashes, I lose a little bit of progress because the game did not let me complete the task I was trying to do before it crashed.  I managed to work my way through what I think of the Tutorial of Gardens of Time, so here are some screenshots.

Heroes of the Storm: Winter Veil 2016

Heroes of the Storm had a Winter Veil 2016 event that began on December 14, 2015, and ended on January 4, 2017.  I didn’t get around to playing it until a few days before the end.  The last time I played Heroes of the Storm (HotS) was over a year ago.  I’m giving the game another try, so maybe I should start paying attention to the in-game events a little more closely than I had been.

The thing that made me interested in playing HotS was the Festive Treasure Goblin Mount.  The screenshots you see in this blog were taken on January 3 and January 4 of 2017.

Flight Rising: Blazing Goblin

Flight Rising is a fun game where players get to control a Lair full of dragons.  Each dragon can have its very own Familiar (which is sort of like a pet for your dragons).  You can collect treasure by clicking on the Familiars every day.

There are special holiday festivals every month where players can obtain special Familiars.  The 2016 Flameforger’s Festival took place at the end of August of 2016.  It honors the Fire Flight.  The Blazing Goblin was the special Familiar for that festival.
